Take your business idea a step further by finding your niche. Break down your goals to provide an experience to your clients unlike any other. Here are our favorite tips for niching down your business and getting clarity on what freelancing looks like for you!

Figure out what drives you!

Get out of bed in the morning with a purpose! You didn’t start freelancing to get into an industry or occupation that leaves you feeling empty. Why not make your dream job a reality? Make a list of the things that excite you the most. Decide what makes you happy and determine how you can incorporate this into your goals - now turn that into a business.

Match your passions with your expertise!

What can you talk about for hours and hours? Finding a niche for your business that involves something you are truly interested in is the sweet spot. Working with your passions means that the long hours you’ll need to put in won’t always feel like “work”. Choose a niche that makes you excited to learn more and do more for your business.

Solve a problem!

When selecting a niche, try to solve a unique problem for your audience. Choosing a saturated market that solves a wide-spread problem can work as a business model, but niching down to a problem no one else can solve is what can really set you apart. Think hard about the issues your clients have and feel confident in your ability to solve it. Trust your expertise and think outside of the box to find a solution for your customers!

Check out the competition!

Figure out what your community loves! Figure out what your community wants to be improved! Be what your community needs. Don’t worry about an oversaturated market - put your own spin on a tried and true business model to stand out from the competition. At the end of the day, there can be several similar businesses but your client is choosing YOU for a reason.

Finding your niche is crucial for connecting with your target audience and making it easy for them to find you. Don’t be afraid to eliminate an entire market if it means getting closer to your true customers. Choose a niche that gets you excited about what you get to do every day. When it comes down to it, a passionate entrepreneur will always outlast someone that’s looking for the next trendy market.
